Today, we pause to honour the strength, resilience, and healing of the Stolen Generations—Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families under government policies that lasted well into the 20th century.
National Sorry Day is not just a date on the calendar. It is a solemn reminder of the pain caused by those policies, and a call to continue walking the path of truth, justice, and reconciliation.
It’s a day to listen deeply, to reflect honestly, and to acknowledge the ongoing intergenerational trauma—but also the unbreakable spirit of First Nations families and communities.
Saying “sorry” was just the beginning. Real change comes through action, respect, and recognition.
